About Me
Apparently, my musical journey began when I was a baby, asleep by the organ pipes in the choir loft of a New Jersey church while my parents sang. As a kid, I had a (much smaller) organ of my own and eventually fell in love with playing themes of some of my favorite movies. By the time I was 11, I decided I wanted to learn guitar, and never looked back.
Two years into playing the guitar, I became obsessed with performing in rock bands. It was really the best feeling ever. I eventually started getting a taste for heavier music and began playing local metal shows with a variety of bands. At the same time, my formal studies took me in the much different direction of Jazz, Bossa Nova, and arranging for solo guitar.
When it came time for college, I chose to study classical guitar and went to The College of New Jersey as a Classical Guitar Performance major. I was still studying jazz and also dove deep into contemporary classical and avant-garde music. In Junior year I spent a semester at the conservatory in Frankfurt, Germany and further developed my classical playing.
After graduating, I journeyed into every aspect of the music world I could find. I played metal at local shows with my band Awjita, performed classical guitar at weddings, filled pubs with Irish music, and taught guitar and piano to many students. I also explored the vibrant North Jersey Indian Classical music scene and began studying Hindustani Vocals.
In 2012, I went on tour in Europe with the psychedelic rock band La Otracina, playing in 49 cities across the continent. After returning, I focused on modern jazz and writing my own songs. In 2015 I relocated from North Jersey to the river town of Lambertville, New Jersey where I played many weddings and joined the Jazz Manouche quartet Pyrenesia, releasing multiple albums with them.
The pandemic in 2020 brought all gigs to a halt, so I started shifting my focus fully to songwriting and teaching music online. Shortly after, I packed my car and moved to Los Angeles, where I reside today.
In LA, I began fully producing my original songs and releasing them. This brought about a passion for music production. Today, I continue to perform solo guitar in locations around Southern California and teach guitar, piano, and voice, to students both locally and online. I also release instrumental music for film and TV under the moniker Western Veil.
I am constantly working on new music, so check my Original Music section or follow me on Instagram to hear what I've been working on!
